A. Although you might suspect that this is Microsoft’s ultimate anti-Apple tactic, it’s actually a problem with the USB driver included in iTunes 8.0. To fix the problem, perform these steps:
- Start the Programs and Features control panel applet (Start, Control Panel, Programs and Features).
- Select Apple Mobile Device Support and click Uninstall.
- Select iTunes and click Uninstall.
- Restart the computer.
- Re-download and install the updated iTunes 8 installer, which contains an updated driver, from http://www.apple.com/itunes/download. Do not use the iTunes8Setup or iTunes864Setup file you previously downloaded.
